Default Lubricheck......received for Chirstmas

I know some have asked if it works, I had just sent off my oil sample to Blackstone two weeks before I received the Lubricheck for my Christmas gift, ran a sample and it flashed red quickly, which means change your oil or you may have possible engine problems, the next day I get the Blackstone report and it says to change my oil and I may have excessive wear.

So, today I use the Lubricheck on my '02 Jetti TDI, changed the oil 2500 miles ago and it flashes number 3 green showing there is more life left in the oil.

For a cheap tool I expected it to be a joke. I will continue to use both Blackstone and Lubricheck and report here.

You be the judge.

'84 911 3.2, last few years had top end, clutch, trans, done, don't drive much. The Lubricheck was flashing red which in the manual says change oil and or possible engine issues. And the Blackstone agreed. $35.00 for the Blackstone vs. $43.00 for as many uses as I want or need with the Lubricheck, I was assuming it was a joke or gimmick. But, if you compare the two, and then the one from the Jetta. I have to lean toward it being worthwhile.

It measures capacitance. That may or may not always be correlated with metal wear and other criteria that affect the ability of oil to do its job; should correlate well with TBN tho.

Ok...so how many miles on the oil when 'In the Red'....which was a very popular bar when I was a youngster in Miller, In.

by my estimate 5,500 plus. I was ready to change it anyway and decided to see what the Blackstone report would say, either way it was coming out. I should have changed it months ago but didn't drive it, ran it and did the tests. I will still be doing the Blackstone reports for a baseline, and just for grins the Lubricheck, definitely will use it without the Blackstone on the Jetta and will wait till it at least gets to the yellow mark, I think 7 or 8 to see how many extra miles I can get on cheaper oil.

I may change mine too often but my 3.0 930-16 got 230k miles of unopened miles on 3k mile oil changes.
I do that on my 930-10 too (rebuilt) and hope for the same.

I just change the oil 3k-5k miles regardless, and make sure its alway topped off. No need to test the oil this way...

Initially I thought a 3k oil change on a fuel injected car was a bit much....but not after all of the chat's I've had with pro P mechanics and the rebuilder of my motor.
Compared to the cost of a top end/full rebuild it's cheap insurance....very cheap.
