Central warning light (!)
When I got on the throttle leaving a stoplight today, my ! central warning light came on by itself (no other lights accompanied it). I pushed the reset button and it went out and didn't come back on. I have checked everything over and don't see anything amiss that would cause the light to come on.
Any ideas where I need to look?? Is this a harbinger of bad things to come??

Timing belt warning light won't cancel by pushing the button.
Best to compare the cluster lights with the ignition key on, and the owners manual and see which one is burnt out.

My central warning light has come on randomly for almost as long as I've had my car. That's been almost 16 years.
Is that abnormal?
If no specific light pops up on the dash, I just hit the button and ignore. I always thought it was just a 928 electrical gremlin.

Timing belt was done about 5 years and 5K miles ago by the PO. Figured that I still had a little time on it.
This sounds like a good suggestion, I will check it out. Should they all light up with the key on and the engine off, or so you have to do something to enter some type of diagnostic mode??

Tomorrow I will try what Sean suggested and check all the warning lights with those in the Owner's manual to ensure that everything is lighting up like it should. Hopefully I will find something that needs the bulb replaced and get everything up to speed.

Ever pulled the pod? That's fun.
Try to do it in an air conditioned space.

I actually need to do that. I have an odo gear that's just sitting and waiting to be installed. No A/C in my garage with triple digit days means I will have to wait until fall comes and brings nice cool temps!!

Holy you get the central warning light !!! (jellous) I only get the seatbelt light coming on when I punch it. Think they are related? just a silly thought maybe check you windshield washer fluid level it might be just low enough to trip the "low" switch under hard throttle

Pushing the reset button on my 85 will cancel the central warning " ! " when the timing belt light warning circuit is tripped.
But it will not cancel the descriptive dash light that is associated with timing belt. That light is located in the upper left area of the dash display.

+1 on verifying the bulbs work. They will come on with the key on, but not started.
Compare to your owner's manual. I just remember 'fifty-four' because there are 5 warning lights in the left gauge and 4 on the right for me. If the bulb is blown you need to do some fun pod work.
