Home Made MAF

Any sensor can be made to work, so long as you know the transfer function for the MAF and then create some genuine MAF code for the DME. Don't be fooled by the thread talking about using a Ford Countour MAF (or whatever it was) by just plugging it in...not going to work "correctly". Many of the aftermarket MAF setups uses translators that go in between the MAF sensor and the DME. These "modify" the MAF sensor signal into looking like an AFM signal that the DME can understand. If you want a true MAF setup there is a lot of work involved and not something for the average DIY...hence why there are only a few people that have ever doen this (Vitesse Racing for example).
Lots of info on MAF setups, use the search and you'll find thread after thread about it.

I bought the exact same MAF once upon a time. I was going to buy a chip and piggy back from Lindsey, but the cost for the two came out to the same as buying just a chip programmed for my set up by Vitesse. Idle was flawless. Airfuel was perfect. Just never worked out as it should have due to my - Unknown at the time - Fried Dash harness feeding the wrong voltage to the ECU. Seriously frustrating part of my 951 history. Anything past 3K rpms got all screwed up. BEFORE the MAF and chip change, and after.
I still suggest the same to anyone with a currently working harness. lol
