Steering Joint Upgrade
MOT test is fast approaching and I need to replace the inner steering joints on my ’90 C2 Targa due to wear. Is it worth swapping to RS spec’ arms complete with track rod ends as sold by Porscheshop for £185?
I can get standard joints (and re-use the existing track rod ends which are OK) for £84 the pair.
Has anyone tried this alteration and is it worth the extra £100?
The car is my daily driver though I would like to try some track days in the future.
Any thoughts / opinions?

I did it and I think it's worth it. The steering feels sharper. But I also think the difference was extra big because the old ones were old and tired. But just by holding them in your hands you can feel the difference. The RS/C4 version is much stiffer. If your pockets are deep you can even go for the Cup-forks!

For clarification, you are talking about the rubber joint between the steering rack and tie rod arm? In the 964 line, there are different hardnesses of the rubber in the joint. The has been previously posted with pictures and part numbers, so you might search for that. I installed the Cup Car joints (or forks, as translated), which have the hardest rubber (harder than RS), at the same time I installed monoball bushings in the a-arms, so it's hard to say to what degree the Cup Car bushings contributed to the significantly better turn in. I think power steering mitigates or masks some of the benefits, too.

Thanks Thomas and Bill.
Just to confirm that I do mean the rubber joint between the steering rack and tie rod arm. I have tried to search and find the thread you mentioned with pictures and part numbers but without success. One thread I did find gave the 964 347 058 00 part number for the RS / C4 joint which is what I think I will go for as the Cup parts appear to be very much more expensive.
Another thread also tells me that the parts pictured in the Porscheshop catalogue are actually not for the 964.
Whilst I am about it, am I correct in my assumption that the steering rack travel stop can conveniently be changed to suit 17” wheels at the same time if I get the parts.
Thanks
Ian

Ian,
Here are the numbers:
When you are in there, replace the 6mm steering stop with the 10mm steering stop (left most part in the diagram above), part number 964.347.325.02, for 17" wheels.
Oh, and here's what the stock C2 and Cup forks look like side by side:
