Humble Beginnings

If you're a fan of high-quality Porsche builds, you'll find more than a few in the Rennlist Forums. But like many of these reconstruction projects, this 964-gen 911 owned by member bhgt2 started out with humble intentions and soon exploded into a full-blown awesomeness

Questionable Work

The OP wasn't a fan of the car's "sparkly" paint job, redone leather interior, and other quirks. But once he started tearing into it, he noticed some other problems, including body parts held in place with silicone blue.

Change of Plans

Thus, the intentions of this project quickly changed. "This brought me to the conclusion that since I don't like the paint or the interior, this would be a good car for a lightweight project to my liking," the OP said. "I dropped the car off at the workshop to drop the engine to do a major service, including installing the RS LWFW and clutch kit, and fixing any other leaks, etc. The body went to another shop to do a bare shell paint restoration."

Discovering Issues

Before long, the car was completely disassembled and bodywork had started. And once the engine teardown began, more problems popped up. "As expected, the timing chain cover's leaking, some sensors are worn out, some major cleaning required, etc.," the OP revealed. "Turns out the fan was welded and painted by the previous owner, so I'll need a new fan. Transmission needs a new seal, too."

Moving Forward

During the body work process, a little bit of rust was found as well, but that wasn't a problem to repair. Soon, the OP also revealed his plans to delete the sunroof and do a rear seat delete.

Sparkle Free

Before long, the bodywork was completed and the car was ready for paint. But despite making many other changes, the OP stuck with the original color. Except for this time, minus the silly sparkles added by the previous owner.

Great Results

The paint turned out amazing, to say the least. And it was going to look even better once everything was finally put back together, including a new set of rear P4P Lexor window panels with vents for cooling.

Adapt and Overcome

Since the engine was taking a little longer than expected, assembly work continued on the inside, along with the various new suspension pieces destined to help make this 964 a lightweight performer.

Stay Inside

Needless to say, the two-tone custom interior turned out absolutely gorgeous. We could sit in this cabin for hours at a time, what with all that amazing craftsmanship to soak in.

Tastefully Crafted

And once the outside was finished, you could certainly say the same for it. We appreciate the fact that the OP didn't go crazy overboard changing things around. Instead, he created a tastefully modified machine worthy of reliving by heading over here!
