Gunther Werks Creates an Ultra Modern 993 Speedster

You can't call yourself a Porsche enthusiast if you haven't heard of Gunther Werks. The Porsche restomod shop are famous for their beautiful recreations of the 993 generation Porsche 911. And now, they've gone and outdone themselves with another jaw-dropping take on the 993. This time, it's a Speedster.

25 Only

As with Gunther Werks' first product, the 400R, the new Speedster will also be limited in production to just 25 units. For the sequel, the restomod builder has created a new unique and, modern style. But it's not just the obvious that's been updated. In addition to redesigning the body to a flawlessly integrated Speedster configuration, they've also added a few new details as well.

Better Than The Original?

The area where the Porsche's rear seats would have been covered by a nicely thought-out panel that features gorgeous flying buttresses. This gives the car a stylishly sporty look, not unlike the original Speedsters. This may be a controversial opinion, but this writer actually prefers the overall proportions of Gunther Werks' Speedster to Porsche's! The panel nicely flows into the newly designed rear decklid, featuring a ducktail spoiler.

Body Modifications

The Speedster also features newly reimagined front and rear fascia, distinguishable from the aforementioned 400R. Given the fact that this version loses its top, extra bracing is used underneath the car to add structural rigidity. Otherwise, a lot of the same fundamentals of the 400R are used here. No need to reinvent the wheel.

NA Power

The restomod 993 Speedster's lightweight carbon fiber body is propelled by a naturally-aspirated, 4.0-liter flat-six that is built by Rothsport Racing. The free-breathing motor is capable of 435 horsepower and 335 lb-ft of torque, and it is capped at 7,800 RPM.

Blank Canvas

As with their previous product, Gunther Werks allows for extensive customization for each of the 25 Speedsters they will build. The model you see pictured above will serve as a black canvas to the fortunate few who will own one of these. Heck, there's even an option to remove the windshield if a customer so chooses.
