Side view of the lift handle / button / switch assembly. Held as it would be used in the car. Rubber side down, fingers lifting it. There is a pivoting plate with a rod sticking out the end that triggers the microswitch shown here. Testing showed the microswitch to be perfect. Things don't move very much (even when repaired), but in this case, the mechanism was locked and the microswitch was not getting tripped.
