Smaller Wheels for 991 GT3RS?
What is your experience with 19" or 20" wheels on a 991 GT3RS ? I am looking into this to mount Hoosier tires. Is it worth it? Or better stick to OEM wheels and MPSC2 or TropheoRs?

HRE_Jurrian thank you. I know about the HREs. They really look great and is definitely a candidate. But your post was for a 991 GT3. I am talking about a GT3RS with OEM back wheels of 21". So the question is what consequence should I be prepared to take for reducing wheel size (1" front but 2" in the back) hoping to gain grip from the Hoosiers? In other words, will I be gaining more grip by using Hoosiers slicks than I will be loosing contact surface because of the reduced wheel size...? I hope someone has the experience and can share track stats...

The one consequence of going with a 19" wheel around these specific PCCB's, is the fact that clearances are tight. With tight clearances, worst case scenario, debris can get stuck between the caliper and the inner barrel. Whether this be tire clag from the track, or maybe even a rock from going off track, there is an opportunity for markings to be made on the inner barrel if something happens to get stuck between the caliper and the wheel itself. Tire clag is annoying to clean off, rocks or other hard debris could cause a visible scratch on the inside barrel if the rock or debris is large enough to get stuck.
Personally I would also consider this into your decision for not just a wheel choice but the size you pick. Of course one step larger to a 20" wheel and you won't have any issue with the barrel clearance.

Got it! Great input. I was focusing on performance and you have a very valid safety / maintenance issue. Especially at the price of a ceramic disk! 20" with Hoosier is probably the right choice. Thank you.

The biggest size Hoosiers come in is 19. I just ordered a set of Forgeline GE1R 19 inch wheels with Hoosiers from Brian at Competition Motorsport. They came out beautifully. They are not on the car yet as She is now in winter hibernation but come spring they are going on and I'm not anticipating any problems. I have a GT3 with PCCBs.

The latest word from Hoosier at PRI is that 20" will initially be released in summer of 2017 in 5 sizes that are reported to be for camaro, challenger, and corvettes. Doesn't sound like Porsche fitment will be offered initially.
