Default Stoopid lug nut question

I'll be taking my wheels off for the first time to install spacers.

What is the conventional wisdom these days regarding type of socket to use - 5 sided socket or "sawtooth" socket?

Also, assuming lug bolts are 18mm, any harm in using 3/4" socket?

TIA

Lug nuts are usually 6-sided (hexagonal) and 19 mm (~3/4"), and it's best to use a 6-point socket not a 12-point because 12-points are more likely to slip.
