Cost for Custom Wheels.
I'm looking to replicate an Item from my past. Something that at the time I didn't know would lead me to where I am now. Specifically the 993 Turbo...
The 993 Turbo was the Porsche that made me fall madly in love with the Marque. Especially the wheels just shout "TURBO". Since the end of the 993 there has been different iterations of the Turbo wheel. The last Two versions of the wheels, well to me, say TURBO both the 997.1 & 997.2! But the new Turbo wheels, 991, don't don't say TURBO to me! It just looks like a normal rim.
Now for the $64,000 Question - are there specific companies that cater to making custom wheels? And if so what type of money am I looking at.
I believe that if Porsche Exclusive made a 19" and/or 20" 993 Turbo style wheel like they did with the Fuch's wheel they would sell rather well. Though I may be mistaken about ultimately who (what company) made the Fuch's wheels! How much would I be looking at for this undertaking? An upsized 993 Turbo wheel that will fit in the 991 like the normal Turbo wheels do now. Five lug, not center lock.

For custom wheels? I see they make an 17" & 18" Fuch's wheel.
I'm looking for a 20 inch 993 Turbo wheel replica!

Seems as if Porsche only went up to 18 inch with the 993 style turbo wheel for the 996 when it came out. Why they went with a different look for the 997.1 without and optional up size, say 19 inch for it I don't know?
But to me that 993 Turbo wheel is as timeless to the turbo as are the Fuch's are to Porsche as well. It's just now to make the size of the wheel look correct it would to be about a 20 inch for the modern 991 fitment. Everything has gone bigger since the early 90's when it was in vogue to put plus size wheels with a smaller tire wall on cars. Which often time requires the need for lowering kits. No way I'm putting an 18 inch wheel on an 991 Turbo... Would look too silly and I imagine throw some of computer systems dealing with the traction control et al out of whack. Besides is there something that can be done with the PIWIS to tell the system you went to this size? That's still just theoretical because any wheel 18 inches is too small for a 991. That is if you're making a quarter mile car out of one and would want a smaller wheel with a tire wall with more meat on the sidewalls to help traction going down the quarter!

I checked out that RotIform website and they have some excellent 993 Turbo five spoke look-a-likes especially under their Options Configurations. I would probably go with a set of these rims. Mono and completely Aluminum, no black on the rim in the inside. Some of them look very straight and uncluttered.
I like these wheels, thanks for the heads ups.
They also have a Fuch's look a like that comes in Aluminum and Matte flat Black with sizes going up to 24"- 3 piece forged. They call that wheel just the FUC. I also like their SPF's for a set of GT3 replacement's. And of course everyone makes an RUF copy which I wouldn't put on a Porsche unless it was an RUF. And if that was the truth I would have the Original RUF wheel's on the car. As would most others here would do. If you have an original RUF and you want to change the wheels on it you should go in a completely opposite direction, not something that looks just like the rim you're replacing! Something like that, an older RUF, is a collector's car and should be kept original and preserved. But alas we could talk for hours about such topics

Whoa I haven't seen that one yet. Don't know where I've been looking. Thumbs up those wheels on an 991 GT3. Will that rear wheel work with Porsche's rear fitment? Have people been going +1 on the rears and have been doind ok with the Size and rear wheel Steering?

Their site is a little confusing...but if you scroll around, there's about 50 different styles there.
Yes...the larger wheels are somewhat common on these & supposedly they can fit a 21x12.5 with a 325x25 in the rear.
I think could be cool:

That is the lowest 991 I have ever seen. Is that rear wheel having difficulties with the camber being out of adjustment as in an effort to slam the car like so many Fart Can exhaust four Cylinder fast and furious teenager cars?

No kidding...that does look great!
I think the picture I posted was done in a panoramic mode and just distorts the image.
19's thru 21's fit 991's fine.

Think I found the perfect modern 993 Turbo Look a Like. I was thumbing through a duPont Registry from December 2010 and there it was. I don't know the name of the manufacturer. The wheel even has the Twist like the original 993.

Talking about those Magnesium Wheels. Especially those Weissach Magnesium wheels from the 918. If they come on a near million dollar car then fine. But charging around $65K for a set is crazy. And then suffering from the issue's that past Magnesium wheels have is a little more than just apprehensive.
I have to find that add in the duPont Registry and see if the wheels are still made or not.
