Question: Porsche 996.2 - Michelin Pilot Super Sports
Hi folks,
I've got a 2004 996 with the MY02 wheels.
I ended up swapping my summer tires over to the winter tires yesterday and the tech mentioned the rears are almost on their way out, which means I've got to replace them.
I'm currently running the Hankook Ventus V12 tires and did not particularly like them, especially during and near the end of its tread life. Rather than buy another set of rears, I'd like to replace them with something else.
Most people rave about the Michelin Pilot Super Sports but I've noticed they do not make a 285/30/18. They do have a 285/35/18, however. Will this tire work without any troubles? I understand they make a 265/30/18, which was for the 996.1 (factory fitment) but seeing that size on my winters, I would personally prefer the extra chunk of tire sticking out of the rim for peace of mind.
Any hints/tips/suggestions would be appreciated. I am also open to recommendations for a similar tire. Keep in mind - I DO NOT track the car and it is daily driven. Thanks!
Mike
