Trailer Tire
My daughter just sent me this picture of 4 year old tire on her horse trailer. Anyone seen a failure like this and have any idea of the cause?

Looks like it overheated from being under inflated and the tire delaminated. Does not look like it was curbed as the rim is fine.
I had one happen like that to me on the highway... The typical horse trailer tires are not great at any speed over 55- if driven faster Goodyear says to inflate to 60 LBS... 50 pounds minimum around town.

EDIT to add: I see these Laredo HD/H's are indeed LT tires (LRE). Either underinflated (they want 80psi) or subject to the recall I just saw online
PLEASE, move up to 16" wheels and get proper LT tires.
ST tires are virtually all CRAP these days.

They are 16" wheels, and these tires came on the trailer from Sundowner. She will obviously getting new tires. Thanks for the info on the recall. I'll check this out.

A public thank you to KaiB. Trailer goes into the UniRoyal dealer in the morning for 5 new tires under the recall. Comes at a very good time financially for my daughter who is in the middle of a divorce.
