Default tire sizing

Am using stock size wheels for a 996 C4, and want to know what are the tire size options for track use. Also, would it be better to widen the fronts and go with the recommended stock rear sizes to reduce understeer? TIA

I'd suggest going with larger sway bars in the rear to reduce understeer RATHER than changing your tire sizes.

You have lots of choices for your 996: http://www.carnewal-europe.com/cpx_suspension.htm

Do you have the stock USA suspension? You also may want to consider an entirely new suspension package too. That way, you have more control over the handling characteristics of the car.

What size wheels do you have? Pre-'02 996 cars came with 7.5" in front and then Porsche changed to 8". If you have the former, you are limited to the stock size 225/40 tire. If you have the 8" wheels, you can go a bit wider with 235 tires but that's really pushing it. I would suggest you stay with 225 in front and 265 at rear unless you want to make wheel size changes.
