Default Can a rear bad tire cause steering wheel shake

I got 4 new tires (Michelin Pilot Super Sports) two weeks ago, they balanced all 4 wheels and alignment is perfect, but I get a steerign wheel shaking at 50 MPH and up.

My tire shop balanced all 4 wheels twice already and no improvement. Tire shop says now, rear right tire is possibly defective.

Can a rear bad tire cause a steering wheel shake like this?

This happens to me when, ironically, right rear tire is low on air pressure.

Do you feel it just in the wheel? If you feel it in the seat, i would be inclined to think that one or more of your tyres is flatspotted/factory defective and out of round.

Let me know what you come up with as I've had the issue you describe and it's patently unpleasent, especially when you've just dropped big coin on new wheels/tyres.

Please post some info on your car. Also, were the tires road forced? and if so, what were the measurements. If your alignment is not correct, it could cause some "unstability" in your steering wheel. Your front toe should be in a bit for a street car to provide this stability.

If everything was fine before the tire change, chances are it's the tires. Especially since they've balanced it twice and the symptoms are still present.

Possibly bent wheel? Please double check during balancing your wheel.
