Default michelin pilot super sports

My toyo r888s are in need of replacing. I have been doing some reading of reviews on tire rack and the super sports seem to be getting pretty good reviews in regards to performance in the wet, predictability and how long they last. Does anyone have any experience with these? Any thoughts? Thanks.

+1. Been running R888s all season. Looking next season at either the Nitto NT01s, MPSSs, or ?

Had them on for one season (2011) replacing Yokohama AD-07s. Corded on outside edges after 7 DE days.
Back to Yoko AD-08s for the 2012 season. The Yokos last substantially longer and have similar performance. Same track, same car, same driver, 1 more day and the AD-08s have plenty of life left. As they are directional, you can swap them side to side to even out wear vs the asymetrical MPSSs.
I found the MPSSs to be very predictable and good in the rain I also found them to be very sensitive to pressure and that may have caused the wear. I was at 34/38 hot to get the grip I wanted and suspect the combination of lower hot tire pressure and the more flexible sidewalls caused roll over and outside edge tire wear....operator error maybe?
Very happy with the Yoko AD series, my 4th set now.

Thanks. Are the yoko's very noisy? What kind of temps are you finding good adhesion? What are you driving? Were they good in the rain as well?

I'm driving an 01 996 that I've has since new. 60k miles total with approx 12k of those on the track. PSS9 suspension plus other longevity mods. I am an experienced driver but a cautious one..no 10/10ths for me.
Yokohama had a test program at Mosport a number of years ago where they had AD07s mounted on rims and a crew to swap out theirs for yours. I think I had PS2s (or maybe Goodyears) at the time and the difference back to back was quite remarkable.
They are louder then the MPSSs and don't ride as well on the street. I find them to be fine in the rain. Difficult to tell vs MPSSs without a back to back comparison but I have not had an off in the rain with either tire (so far!) and don't want to.
Hot tire temps that work for me are 34 F and 38 R.
Hope this helps

This may be helpful. I have not found a back to back MPSS vs AD-08

Take a look at the Hankook ventus V12 evos. The specs are the same as the Michelin, and cost a heck of a lot less., and the difference in performance is so slight that for everyday driving you will not know the difference. I have them on my tt and love them. Take a look at the following:

I bought a set of the PSS and after 2 DEs had to swap them left to right to save the set as the lefts were wearing out on the outer edge fast. Now after 4 events I have to say that I will be looking at other options for the next set. For the cost these tires should hold up much better.

I had the same exact experience with my MPSSs. As a novice driver I loved them. And they're great in the wet and on the street. But for more advanced track work the pressure sensitivity, overheating etc. has me looking at other options. I was targeting similar hot pressures (38 rear) or even lower to get acceptable grip, but that ends up causing the outsides to cord after just a handful of DEs.

+ on the Ventus 12, I have them on and love them. Excellent tire and a smooth quiet ride. You could spend more but unnecessary.
