michelin pilot super sports
My toyo r888s are in need of replacing. I have been doing some reading of reviews on tire rack and the super sports seem to be getting pretty good reviews in regards to performance in the wet, predictability and how long they last. Does anyone have any experience with these? Any thoughts? Thanks.

Had them on for one season (2011) replacing Yokohama AD-07s. Corded on outside edges after 7 DE days.
Back to Yoko AD-08s for the 2012 season. The Yokos last substantially longer and have similar performance. Same track, same car, same driver, 1 more day and the AD-08s have plenty of life left. As they are directional, you can swap them side to side to even out wear vs the asymetrical MPSSs.
I found the MPSSs to be very predictable and good in the rain I also found them to be very sensitive to pressure and that may have caused the wear. I was at 34/38 hot to get the grip I wanted and suspect the combination of lower hot tire pressure and the more flexible sidewalls caused roll over and outside edge tire wear....operator error maybe?
Very happy with the Yoko AD series, my 4th set now.

Yokohama had a test program at Mosport a number of years ago where they had AD07s mounted on rims and a crew to swap out theirs for yours. I think I had PS2s (or maybe Goodyears) at the time and the difference back to back was quite remarkable.
They are louder then the MPSSs and don't ride as well on the street. I find them to be fine in the rain. Difficult to tell vs MPSSs without a back to back comparison but I have not had an off in the rain with either tire (so far!) and don't want to.
Hot tire temps that work for me are 34 F and 38 R.
Hope this helps

Take a look at the Hankook ventus V12 evos. The specs are the same as the Michelin, and cost a heck of a lot less., and the difference in performance is so slight that for everyday driving you will not know the difference. I have them on my tt and love them. Take a look at the following:

I bought a set of the PSS and after 2 DEs had to swap them left to right to save the set as the lefts were wearing out on the outer edge fast. Now after 4 events I have to say that I will be looking at other options for the next set. For the cost these tires should hold up much better.
