Default 20 rims for 997.1 C2S

Hi,

I'd like to change my 19" wheels on 997.1 carrera S wheels for 20" ones and I think there is something I don't understand...
The previous owner put 22mm spacers on the 4 wheels (!) and the actual wheels offset is 8ET57 on front and 11ET51 on the rear which makes the wheels go on the outside 22mm on the front and 38 (22+16mm) on the rear ( when taking as reference the stock wheels which are 8ET57 front and 11ET67 back ) I ve been using the car with this setup since I bought it and I never had any fender clearance issues or rubbing.
My problem is quite simple : why everyone says that wheels for wide body cars won't fit the narrow ones? If I take for example a 20 inch from Techart with 12ET48 and no spacers the wheel will be 67-48 = 19mm + 0.5 inch = 32mm more on the outside than the stock one, and which is less than the 38mm I have now. So what is the problem ? Because I don't see any.
I have a similar question, maybe stupid with cayenne 20 inch wheels (9ET60 front and 10ET55 rear) I also did some maths and the front is 9mm more on the outside compared to stock and the rear ones are the same position as stock : 67-55= 12mm - 0.5 inch = approx 0
So why can't I put these cayenne wheels ? There would be no caliper clearance problems on the inner side. The only thing I see is the weight - but are the cayenne wheels heavier for the same size than those designed for 911 models ?
I would appreciate if someone helps me to understand - don"t want to make a 5000eur mistake

Thanx
