Hollow spoke turbo wheels offset & fitment
Hello Guys,
I trial fit a rear 10x18 ET 65 wheel in a friend of mine 1986 944 Turbo (951) and they fouls a bolt (sway bar) of the spring plate (for about 5-10mm) !
He is really want to install these wheels and I have to ask : some modification to the bolt ? (any ideas?) or spacers ? is there genuine spacers of that thickness available ?
Thanks guys,
Jim

AFAIK, the Porsche hollow spoke technology wheels ( in 18x10 for rear axle) offset is 40mm. The non-hollow spoke version offset is 65mm. I might be wrong on this but I believe the wheel you are talking about (65mm offset) is the non-hollow spoke version.
There are all kind of spacer for the wheel, just to make sure that you use a hub-centric version and you might have to use a longer stud. In certain cases, the spacer use a new set of lug nuts and comes with its own studs for mounting the wheel (using original lug nuts).
HTH,

FWIW, there are both hollow and solid spoke versions of both 40 mm and 65 mm offsets.

What you really want are the 40 mm offset wheels... or you can fit a spacer.

I've got a parts list (with part#) and procedure on how to make that combination work. Check out the 944 Wheels FAQ section of my 951 RacerX website.
