Question Will these wheels fit on my car?

I love the 2002 996 17" factory 10-spoke alloy wheels and want to get them for my 1990 944 S2. I have spoken to a couple of different shops reagrding these wheels and some say I need spacers and others say I do not. Help! Thanks.

I haven't seen those wheels yet. If you can get the offset numbers from them (should be stamped somewhere), we can determine if it'll fit your car...

These '02 996 wheels are:

7" x 17" - ET50
9" x 17" - ET55

The 17" wheels installed on the 968 were:

7.5" x 17" - ET65
9" x 17" - ET55

I don't see a reason why the '02 wheels won't fit.

The fronts are 7 x 17 (offset 55) and the rears are 8.5 x 17 (offset 50).

Indeed, these are Boxster 17" wheel sizes.

I think you'll need 5 mm front spacers by the look of the wheel. All the late model Porsche wheels have very low dished center cap areas, and this causes interference with the 944 grease cap.

I went ahead and purchased the 996 version of the 10 spoke wheels (7Jx17-ET50 and 9Jx17-ET55). Just for clarification, I can just mount these without any modification. I apologize for being a PITA, but the info posted is a little confusing to me (no thanks to me posting the wrong sizes). Thanks.

I'd say they'll fit. But, why not test fit them since you already bought them?

Viken, you're right it's just that I'm a novice to this stuff and as a result a worrier. The good news is that the back wheels went on fine. The fronts would not fit because of the grease caps mentioned by Tom. Looks like I will be ordering spacers tomorrow. Thanks for all your help guys.

Whatever spacers you get, make sure they are at least hubcentric. Otherwise, you'll experience vibration from the lack of balance.
