Post Fuchs "stained"?

Hi- first time on the tire/wheel forum.

I have stock 16" fuchs which were the traditional black painted center section and polished/anodized rim. I had them media blasted (like sandblasting but with plastic beads--less abrasive)...the paint came off like a champ, but down in the recesses there is a green tint to the metal, like the color your arm would turn if you wore a cheap bracelet? I have tried steel wool/polishing compound to no avail. What if anything can get this off, as I was hoping to just polish the entire wheel instead of repainting. Thanks for any input.

Thanks for the pic, looks great. I've decided to go the route of polishing the face of the "petals" and painting the recesses the original black...

The centers come from the factory anodized. To remove the anodization you can use Easy off Oven cleaner. The process involves: cleaning the wheel, Spraying on the oven cleaner, re apply a second coat when it bubbles, leave it on for five minutes or so, them wipe off with a scotch-brite pad. Repeat if the color doesn't come off. After removal the wheel is a pasty white color. Then use a good aluminum polish (mothers etc.) and it shines right up with some elbow grease. I recenly did this to an old mismatching set of Flat dish and it worked great! Here are the directions I followed. web page

If you have the guts give it a go, It takes work but the results are very good!

Thanks. I bought some polishing wheels for my drill and tripoli/rouge at the local auto paint supply and 2 weeks later have some sweet looking rims. Very time consuming, especially since I masked and painting the recesses...
