Track Tire Recommendations
Looking for a track tire (cost plus value) recommendation. These tires must transport me back and forth 2-4hrs to the track and home safely. Obvious, tires stay on for 2-day track events. I've purchased wheels and now need tires for Size 205/55-17 (Front), 235/50-17 (Rear)? Also, please identify vendors who carries recommended track tires?
Vehicle: 2005, Boxster
I want to conserve my PS2's for daily driving.
Thanks!

Assuming you have 7 and 9 inch wheels, you'll definitely want 205 (probably 225) and 255 rear.
I am very happy with Dunlop Direzza Star Spec. The Hankook Ventus RS-3 is a similar choice. Both are totally fine on street and rain, and very capable on track.
For a bit more $, the Bridgestone RE11 is another option.
Best,
Matt

RS3 and Star Spec are excellent tires, and the fastest street tires you can get, faster than PS2, and virtually identical performance to much more expensive tires like RE11 and AD08. (These four are your top tier, btw.) RS3 and Star Spec are similarly inexpensive in this size with very similar performance; the big difference is how they deal with temperature. I'm running Star Spec for DD/autocross, but Star Spec's compound is better suited to cooler temps, and RS3 to higher. I've never felt my star specs get greasy, but they seem to wear very fast when they get hot- I actively spray them in hot weather between autocross runs to keep the temps down. In Orlando, especially on the track, RS-3 is probably the better choice. (I would not DD RS3 in Montreal, though, not with its poor cool weather performance.)
If these are exclusively going to be track tires, you might also want to consider R-comps like Toyo R888 or Hoosier R6 which will grip more, but wear out rather quickly. Depending on how much you track, they may still last you several years.

Double ditto on the Star Spec Z1.
I have not had real heat problems with them, and have used them beyond their limit many times in 100+ heat..they will get greasy, but are wonderfully predictable over the edge. Just keep hot pressure around 38psi.
They will, however, not like cold weather.

Samson, another great post....
Look into the Nitto NT-01 in a 225/45/17 and 255/40/17. They will fit the needs you described and offer far more track performance than "street performance" tires....
Cheers

Dunlop Star Specs Direzzas are the winner hands-down!
Check the poll on street tires on the right:
WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING STREET LEGAL TIRES DO YOU LIKE BEST?

I've been using Dunlop Star Specs for 4 years and abs love them. I had them back to back with Nitto NT01s at the Glen at the end of September and the difference was < 1 second in favor of the Nittos.

The safety standard is more important and complete the motor carriers. So, hire only the certified drivers who have valid commercial driver's licenses. The most important ensure that these drivers operate their vehicles more safely on the highways. There are many best companies that offer this type of services.
