Default Are Toyo RA1 back in production or not?

Hi,

Does anybody know if Toyo makes RA1 again or not? I`ve heard more than once that they continued making them but no one seems to have 245 R18 tires for sale for a very long time now. What is the truth about this?

Where are the RA-1's? All of my usual online vendors have none and I've heard they've been replaced with the R888's which I'm not as fond of. I'm running 18inch OZ's and need some track tires too. What other brands have you considered.....Yokohama, Hankook, Nitto?? Frustrated!

I consider these the "good ole days" for R-comps, as I've never seen so many offerings. Maybe trying to decide which will be best for our own application is frustrating.

If you're looking for R-comps with a tread pattern, I've read quite a few really good reports on the Nitto NT-01. I'm on my second set of R888s, but had to be deal-talked out of the NT-01s that I called to order. I also like Michelin Cups for track, but they're too cold natured for AX.

RA1's are done. I speak to a Toyo rep from time to time and there are only some spec Miata sizes avaiable etc.

For you 997 guys the Nitto NT01 really will not work since the rear tire will be smaller than with overall diameter. They will work on 996 cars though but they can mess with your ABS in threshold braking on a 997 car.

This is why I went to 19" for my track tires. I have more options...Hoosier R6, Toyo R888, Michelin Sport Cups, Pirelli Corsa and Trofeo and some other manufactures are coming out with tires in our 19" sizes. With 18" all you have is Hoosier R6 and Toyo R888. Or you can run some race slicks from Conti, Yoko, Pirelli or Michelin but you really need to suspenion to run race slicks. Plus there is zero longevity with the real race slicks.

I have a set of 225/50 R15 RA-1 ordered from my tire dealer for my 944 spec. He is stocking up right now for NASA Nationals as he will be the Toyo vendor there. However my size is quite a bit different from yours.

Nitto will make us a 315-35-18 if we just flood their corporate website with requests. They already make the 245-40-18, which is a big seller for them.

I've been discussing with them the sometimes erratic issues the 315-30-18 causes us.....if you want RA1's, this is the best and easiest way to get them, but in a different tread pattern.

Here is the link directly to their contact page.
