looks like I'm screwed. I may have to eat the cost of an AC Hydraulic jack so I can get enough lift height to work under the car.

I also have the sears aluminum race jack. No problems here in over a year of occasional use.

One more vote for Costco floor jack

Completely rebuilt old truck using this jack. It works great.
