Red dot on the tire's sidewall
Hello,
I've heard before that some tires come with a red dot on the sidewall and this dot is to be lined up with the valve stem when mounting. Is this correct? I called a local tire shop and they had never heard of it. Thanks

Some tires do come with a dot on the sidewall and Paul at Radial Tire has at least the track tires mounted with the dot next to the valve stem. This so you can see how much the tire is rotating on the rim. It also turns out to be a clue as to why your track tires don't stay in balance.

So lining up the dot with the valve stem is not something that aids in getting the tire properly balanced? It's just used as a reference point to see if the tire has rotated after the initial mounting & balancing. Thanks for the info.

Alan, thanks for the info in your PM. Check out the site below I found that talks about the red dot, and there is also a yellow dot.
