I just asked that same question of a shop where I intend to have mine powdercoated. Of course, they told me there would be no problem since the wheels would be subjected to heat no more than 350 deg F. I'd be interested if we get any different info here.

The heat is not a problem, but I've heard that the powdercoating can hide crack that occur. I suppose that on a street wheel, you'll be OK, but not a track wheel.

Would it hide a crack post-powdercoating? I can see where a dishonest person might powdercoat a cracked wheel to sell, but I'd think any crack after having it done would show. Or is it elastic enough that it wouldn't?

I've always heard it will hide a crack post powder coat. I would check with a few wheel people if you can. For the street, I would probably do it though.

I am thinking about getting the Turbo stock wheels power coated black. Does any one have a rought idea what that would run? Of course I will wait untill its time for new tires so that wouldnt be much of a add on.

I was considering doing the same to a set of CCWs. I was quoted anywhere from $250 (from a local friend with contacts) to $400 from a shop. I had two other estimates at $350 and $380. This was for complete coverage, no masking off. Masking off = time = more $.

Call CCW about that before you do. They do used forged aluminum,
which is cold-work-hardened afterwards, and heating these parts
*can* alter/hurt the strength of the rim.

I was considering it, not anymore. However, that was more because I decided not to spend the $ on bling. That'd pay for a day or two on the track. But thanks for the additional info.

They can powder coat plastic so temperature shouldn't be a problem as long as they're aware of it.

Powder coating should be OK on a street-based wheel, but wouldn't you want to to see a crack develop before it develops into something dangerous? The coating is thick enough to obscure beginning cracks. Or you can feel lucky.
