Question Should I shave Toyo Ra1

I run my track car in DE and DO events - no race groups as of yet. Im about to purchase some new Toyo Ra1's with the next couple of weeks and Im thinking not too have them shaved. IS this a good thing or a bad thing? Im just trying to maximize the almight dollar. Any insight would be appreciated.

TIA

You don't need to shave RA1's. I have run them new on the track and they will run fine. Just go easy on them your first 1-2 laps to allow them to heat cycle properly. If you beat on them cold, they can chunk.

Thats what I was thinking - why spend 700+ on tires just too have them shaved down? (Tire guy reccomended that I do - plus another 60.00 to have them shaved) Sounds like a tire consipracy to me LOL

Thanks

RA-1's will usually get too hard before you chord them. That is the reason most people get them shaved to maximize traction right out of the box (so to speak)
I always get mine shaved...
