Default 225/45/17 fronts on 91 C4?

Hi, new here with my first post:

Like the title says, is this size OK on the fronts. This size matches the rear 255/40/17 diameter exactly. It looks like there is room to add the additional width. I was just curious if anyone else has this combination and if so are there any issues?

Thanks

I ran those sizes on my 90 C4 with no problems up front. On the rear I had to add 3mm spacers to stop from rubbing on the oil line on the right side. My wheels were 996 7 & 9 x 17 with 55mm offets.

Thanks Rick. I currently have the 255's in the rear and don't get that rubbing issue. I gues I will be going for the 225's up front.

Most people don't seem to have the rubbing issue in the rear either, but since these cars were handbuilt they are all a little different. I have heard of a few people with the rear rubbing. My fronts rub a very small bit only at full lock, I know there was a factory steering stop update recommended for upgrading to 17s to prevent this, I'm not sure if that part is already on a 91 or not. Part numbers are Steering stop: Part Number 964 347 325 02 (two required) & Rubber valve: Part Number 900 265 001 50 (four required).

I should also mention that my car is on stock shocks/struts with H&R lowering springs, the car sits about 1" lower all around. I'm sure fender rubbing will be somewhat related to ride height.

I just threw 225/45x17 on the fronts, and no issues with rubbing. They look great, and take up all the extra space in the wheel arches.
