No bubbles yet, but... 4 weeks ago bought '04 996 with 6,500 miles. OEM tires are Pirelli Rosso. Center portion of both rear tires (285/30/18) has about 2/32 tread remaining, but inner and outer edges have tread 7/32 remaining. Emailed Pirelli (on their web site) told them 8,000 miles for these tires was totally unacceptable, especially since their Web site boasts that Rosso's have "even tread wear." Reply from Pirelli told me to go to my local Pirelli dealer for an adjustment. Local dealer contacted Pirelli and I got 50% adjustment. New tires scheduled to arrive on Monday. Front tires have 7/32 overall, so I figure about the time "now" rear tires wear put, so will the front tires. I am 95% certain I will get Bridgestone S02-A when it is time to replace all 4 tires.
Porsche recommends 44 PSI on the 285/30/18 rear tires. I think that is possibly a contributing factor to the excessive center tread wear, because once the tires get warm, they could easily reach 50 - 54 PSI. Max PSI on the Rosso's is 51. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks TRAITOR!.. and yes, I do feel fortunate to get the 50% adjustment. Since this is my first P-car and I am new to this forum as of (4/1/05), I have learned a lot of things I didn't previously know about P-cars. Most if it has been useful, and almost of has been interesting. I have done no MOD's yet, but am getting a P Short Shifter this week and plan to change that out on Saturday. I have found a couple of sites with instructions, but since this is something I have never done before, I am a little anxious about doing so. However, I am committed to doing it myself, because you have to start somewhere, don't you?!?

$10 says that if you call Pirelli and complain about it they will do some type of adjustment on it. It is so easy to get tire manufactures to adjust tires usually.

I agree with Traitor. Do what I did, send them a comment on their web site and explain the problem. You should hear back within a few hours. If they tell you to go to your nearest Pirelli dealer, then you are more than half way to an adjustment. Print out the Pirelli reply and give it to your tire dealer to refer to when they call Pirelli. If they offer to make a copy of the email, tell then that they can keep the copy because you still have an electronic copy back at home (let's them know that you aren't going to readily take "NO" for an answer. Your dealer can then reference your email and Pirelli will have a hard time telling you "NO" if they sent you to the dealer in the first place! It's worth a few minutes of your time. Even if they do say "NO," then all you have lost is a little time and you are no worse off than you are right now.
