min tire width on 18x9 and 18x10 wheel?
this is perhaps one of the more silly questions posted on this forum. I know most people try to upgrade to wider tires for more contact patch. I am limited to 225-235 mm tire w/ the current body/suspension/fender clearances.
simple calculations say that I may not be able to run a tire that "narrow" on the 9" wide wheel, let alone on a 10" wide wheel....
225 mm = 8.858 in
235 mm = 9.251 in
thanks in advance.

Nick,
since no one answered your question, i suppose ill chime in...
If your looking to stretch tires onto a wide wheel for clearance purposes you are not alone!!! I drive and build drift cars and a very popular thing to do is run an extra wide wheel with a slim tire on it to clear things such as coilovers and inner fender protrusions when the wheels are at full lock. I have personally put a 215.45.17 on to a 17x9.5" wide wheel and have seen a 215.45 on a 10" wide wheel. So it can be done and is done on a normal basis in other forms of motorsports... mainly drifting. From what i understand it also makes the sidewall of the tire stiffer.
Here are some examples:

...That is a 17x9" with 215.45.17.
Not my car and sadly i dont know the wheel/tire setup:
