Limited Tire Selection for 18" OEM Wheels
Hi guys,
So I'm running 18" Cayman wheels on my 718 base & need new tires asap as the rears on my current set (bridgestone potenza sports) are completely worn after 15 months/12800k miles (which honestly is the worst durability for any summer tire ive ever tried & I drive gently).
problem is tire models available in the factory sizing (235/45ZR18 & 265/45ZR18) are pretty limited (Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2 & the Pirelli P Zero are pretty much the only summers available in this sizing & I'd much rather run michelin pilot sport 4s or continental extremecontact sport 2 for good grip & still decent durability).
i've read on Apex's guide to wheel/tire fitment & elsewhere on here that I could try alternate sizing for access to a wider selection of tires (245/40/18 & 275/40/18) but I'm hesistant as won't there be a bigger gap between the fenders & the tires (than from factory) & wouldnt adjustments to the suspension be required (I rather not change the factory spec)? ie you would have wider tires than oem (245 vs 235 & 275 vs 265) but the sidewall height is still smaller (40 vs 45). i'd rather avoid that & keep the car looking oem.
so it's either i go with a different tire size (risking the fender/tire gap looking bigger/not liking how the car looks), I switch to bigger wheels (which im also not keen on doing due to increased weight & road noise, less comfort), or I settle for the Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2.
if porsche made an 18" version of the gt4/spyder wheel (are there any reputable aftermarket ones that look like it?) & michelin or continental had summers in the oem sizing, that would be my ideal scenario
any suggestions? thanks!

245/40-18 and 275/40-18 are shorter than the OEM sizes and going to the slightly taller 245/45-18 and 275/45-18 returns just two tires to choose from. The Bridgestone Potenza Sport and a Kumho All-Season. There is no good way that I am seeing to have both an OEM-like tire diameter and tire options like the Continental ECS 02 or Michelin PS4S in an 18" diameter. The PS4S is not even an option in the 245/40-18 and 275/40-18 combo, just the Conti ECS02.
Both the PS4S and ECS02 are available in the 235/35-20 and 265/35-20 sizes as well as 235/40-19 // 265/40-19 and 245/40-19 // 275/40-19
