Question Why are "Speedline for Porsche" rims so heavy.

I was curious to know if anyone knows the exact reason why the wheels used on the 94 3.6 Turbo so heavy? I was told they weigh 26 pounds for the front 8 X 18 and 28.5 pounds for the 10 X 18 inch rears. This is realatively heavy compared to some of the aftermarket forged wheels.

They all use spun Aluminum outer rims. The forged wheels have less material due to the strength of an Aluminum Forging but not 1/3 less then the centers of the Speedlines which are cast Magnesium. Magnesium weighs 1/3 less then Aluminum and the Magnesium casting cannot weigh more than 6 pounds total (if that).

So how do the after market Fikse's and HRE's weigh as much as 6 pounds less?
Are the outer halfs spun in much thinner gauge Aluminum, therefore making these rims more vulnerable to damage?
