Default Tires - New or Existing?

New member as of today. Picking up a used Boxster S next week, lightly used, always garaged.

Tires are 8 yrs old (Continentals).

Discount Tire comes out to this dealership a couple of times per month to assess tires on their inventory and said these are in good shape.

For my other cars and trailers I always change out every 4 year regardless of mileage but they are all also exposed to the elements.

I have bought new Michelins online at a nearby Discount Tire with the intention of putting a new set on given the age.

Save the $1,300 for now or go ahead and put new ones on before I drive back home?

(I know the answer, hoping there is a groundswell of suggestions that say save the money! )

If they are in good shape, no 'dry rot' or cracking...just enjoy them for now! And save up for some sweet rubber in the near future!

Based on age you should replace them. Check the date code.
