Powder coating rims...advice needed.
I have a 981 CS with the Carrera S wheels factory painted in platinum. The paint is fading, so I was thinking of getting them powder coated and maybe doing aftermarket rims eventually, if it is worth it. I figure even if I get them powder coated and decide to eventually get aftermarket rims, I will have an easier time selling them in the future.
I've often had polished or platinum chrome or dark chromium looking rims on black cars, but I'm also a fan of bronze rims, and I figured it would be cool to change it up. I'm not entirely sure if I should go matte or gloss. I would imagine the extra layer of gloss, if it is a separate layer, would help protect the finish, but I'm open to advice from people with knowledge/experience. I live in the north bay, so I'm not sure what I would expect to pay and if I should show up with the rims only or if they will dismount/mount/balance them. I'm looking for a darker bronze with a preference slightly for the gloss. I'm not sure what they would be able to do with the center caps. Do I need to buy new ones?
