When to replace these Yokohama AD09’s?
Hi all,
I am running Yokohama AD09s on my cayman for track. Right now I have done 4 days in those and I like them a lot.
The wear in the center is very reasonable and I still got plenty of treads left for all four. However, the rear shoulder wear concerns me (photos attached). How many more days can I get out of those rear tires and when it’s time to replace them? The car is running -1.7 negative camber in the rear.

Followingwith interest as I have similar questions about my RE71RS, which have a similar tread pattern. I suspect you will get more answers on the Racing/DE forum. Based on a recent tech inspection and more shoulder wear than you (6 days on mine), I'd say you are good for a while - at least 4 more days. Don't forget to rotate to extend life.

Tracking a lot in various cars over the past 42 years I would say you are fine. You have not even worn the tread pattern down and you are rolling the tire right over to your side arrow markers so hang in there my friend. If you continue to have fun you might want to consider a more aggressive tire ( i.e. sticky gumball rubber donut ) as G forces are addictive.

I am literally 40 heat cycles into my 265/305 set on my 911 and can't kill the AD09. They are amazing tires and I love the predicability in the grip versus the cup 2s. I will probably have to throw mine out before they are tread worn out.

I was having the same issues on my 991, outside shoulder wear which is very unusual for a 911 which normally have inside wear not outside.
Plus I didn't like the way the car rolled around in the back, soft and spongy, very dis-concerning. I had them on BBS wheels 9" front & 11.5" rear, tires were 245/35/20 & 305/30/20, maybe I should have tried 295 rear.
