Need PS2 for a 993 'S'
Can anybody point me to a source for 225/40 18 and 285/30 18
Tire Rack PS2
offers 225/40 18, but no 285/30 18

Terry,
I don't think the 285/30 is out yet. And, knowing Michelin, it might be the better part of the year before you see it. If you are in dire need of tires, you may have to go with an alternative.

Doesnt appear to be in the lineup but the 295/30/18 is if it will work and Viken could answer that better than I can.

Thanks Viken. After reading your response to Kerry in another thread, I think it will be the Pilot Sport Rib. I am a couple thousand miles away, with some wear left on the current Pirelli System Assimetricos.

I have a PS2 spec sheet from Michelin that appears to answer the rim width concern:
Size MSPN Rim Width Range Diameter Porsche OEM *
235/40ZR18 N2 95853 8.0-9.5 25.4 Yes
295/30ZR18/XL N2 49127 10.0-11.0 25.0 Yes
* no model specified
XL means extra load, as in 1653 lbs @ 50psi
I plan to ask my tire and suspension shop before ordering these. Is this the right upsize to go for?

That is what Viken and I have been talking about. Remember load carry capacity is per tire and you probably dont want to run 50 psi. Since I doubt your car weighs 6000 lbs. you should be fine there anyhow.

At least one Tire Rack guy recommends the XL for the rear claiming they will hold up better with our heavy rear weight bias and propensity to go through rears twice as fast as fronts. I've received them but haven't had them mounted yet.

I was hoping to see icerbofh's mounted today on 8" and 10" hollow spoke rims, but he has 2 bent wheels to get repaired first. I have not decided yet.

I just got my car back yesterday mounted with PS2 235/40ZR18 N2 and 295/30ZR18/XL N2. I'll do a report in a week after I get 500 or more miles on them.
