Looks like someone has done it. I guess they didn't mind the rears rubbing, huh?

Could I ask just out of curiosity. Is this the same offset issue as on a 993? I.e. on the 996 the NB the ET is 65mm vs 40 for a TT?

No, the 996 Turbo wheels are:

8" x 18" - ET50
11" x 18" - ET45

If you are wondering whether or not they fit a 993 Turbo, the answer is yes.
