mixing SO2 with SO3's
Hi all, I have a set of rims for my 951 with SO2's on them, good at the front and worn at the rear. I have not driven on these rims as the PO supplied them and I have been using Falken Azenis as summer tyres. I plan to use the SO2's as winter tyres (rain not snow) but as they are unavailable will mix them with SO3's if the concensus is that is ok. What is everyones opinion, is it ok to mix SO3's with SO2's?
Thanks
Glen

Glen,
Having spent a bunch of time in Sydney over the last 2 years I know that your definition of winter is a bit different than mine - I like yours better.
For what it's worth I would say this wouldn't be a good idea; the S02 and S03 are very different tires. I have a set of each for my 951S and they're radically different. I'm not saying that something catastrophic will happen but it will certainly not be optimal - I'd wouldn't expect great handling out of the combination set.
Also, you'll find that the S03 is a better wet tire than the S02. The S02 is great in the dry but just OK in the wet; the S03 is "squirmy" in the dry but pretty good for the wet. As a result, I'm moving my S03s to a set of rain wheels for my car and will keep Hoosiers on the other two sets of wheels for dry track conditions.
Hope this helps a bit.
Cheers - have a Hahn Premium for me!!!!

Rick, glad you liked the weather here and the Hahn Premium is still icy cold! Thanks for the advice, looks like I should keep the SO2's for something else and throw on a full set of SO3.

Brian, I think that every time I see something either heavy or large for my cars, the shipping is more than the product! Still the weather is nice here and less of us take to shooting each other so there are some consolations.
