Default 16" Phone Dials

My 87 944 na has 15" dials. I'd like to find some 16 inchers. When did 16" dials come into play? Were they an extra cost option in 87? Later?

The 16s were for Turbo cars.

As mentioned the 16'' Phone dials were available on the 944 Turbo, the proper offset for your 87N/A will be from an 87+ 944 turbo, meaning you need the "late" offset(52.3mm). The wheels themselves are 16x7 and 16x8 in the rear.

I currently have a set im refinishing for my 924S, these wheels are a very nice upgrade from 15'' stock Phone dials!

Hope that helps!

The 944S I purchased last year also had 16x7 and 16x8 phone dials on it. The tires were very worn so I went out and got 225x50x16 SO3's for the front and 245x45x16 SO3's on the rear. Tenacious dry and wet weather grip, and reasonable wear after about 7,000 miles on them. I would definitely buy them again:<)

The wheels themselves are straight but have a lot of surface rust on them which I haven't been able to remove with the normal wheel cleaning methods. How are you refinishing your wheels?

Phone dials should not have rust on them, They are AL and Mg based. Maybe you mean surface corrosion.

I am in the process of setting up a group order for the OEM Wurth Paints used on the wheels from the factory. Once i have the primer and paint and clear coat i will begin the job. If you're looking for info search the list a little. You'll find some info, i'll be posting what i did and pictures once im done...Hope that helps!
