tire size for track days
hey guys,
i have a 996 c2 that i plan to track
tracks such as SoW/Big Willow, Buttonwillow, Chuckwalla and Autoclub Speedway. generally high speed tracks. the only "slow" track would be SoW.
just picked up some oz wheels in 18x8.5 and 18x10
i was curious as to what's the general "go to" tire size for a fairly balanced drive?
i know that there's a lot of personal preference, but im looking for a solid starting point.
I see that 235/40 and 295/30 seems popular, but tire choices for 295/30 is fairly small for 200tw. there's like 3 choices lol
has anyone ran 235/40 and 275/35? would this have the rear end feeling a bit too loose on track? car will be ran without aero for the time being and will be on oem gt3 coilovers if it matters.
curious to see what sizes everyone has run and their experiences.

So no one responded to your post? I'm curious as I'm in the process of setting up my new to me '00 C2 and have my brand new Apex SM10 18x9 & 18x11 wheels waiting for shoes. I'm not racing or running enough camber for R7s and not sure I can get enough camber (stock control arms with ROW M030) to fit the NT01s which would be my first choice. Leaning toward R888Rs but I've seen bad things with these tires and feedback from drivers is kind of all over the place.
What tire did you end up going with?

So i just bought a set of used apex wheels and nt-01 for my nb c2 996. The are 245 and 305. Ill be testing them out this spring. I also have another used set of tires from a turbo car that are 245 and 315. I figure they should get me through most if my limited track days this year. Sorry i can help with how they work but i have seen up to a 315 on the back of a nb with 18x11 et 63 wheels with the correct amount of camber.
