Wink 911 winter tire preferences

Just got my 991.2 MT delivered. Is there a preference between Pirelli sottozeros (porsche recommended), Michelin Alpin PA4s or others?
Rims? Sources other than Tire Rack (they don't have the Alpins in stock)?
DD living in Syracuse. Was planning on 19 inch rims, saving the 20 inch rims currently on the car for summer (told 18 inch rims would not fit).
Real life experience and opinions appreciated!
Thanks

Welcome to the forums. There are a great deal of choices. Is your 991.2 a wide body (C4 and C4S) as the offsets vary between narrow body (C2 and C2S). Yes, the most frequent choice are 19s. You should post this in the 991 forum and you can search there too.

Its a C2 cab and thanks for the recommendation. Someone from Rennlist said they were moving the original threat to the 991 area (hubby accidentally put it in the air/oil cooled forum.......whoops)

Do a search in the 991 forum too. Most use a set of 19 OEM wheels from a 991.1 narrow body in your case, as they will fit your 991.2. Good luck.

Hi Helen, welcome to the forums. In my part of the world (BC Canada) Michelin Alpin pa4 is considered a tire that does everything pretty well, especially plowing through deep snow. On our Carrera 4 GTS we have been using Pirelli Sottozeros (235/19/35 and 295/19/30) for the last 8 years (same set). Over that time, we’ve climbed up to snowy, high altitude ski resorts, scratched up steep icy forestry roads and made first tracks in the early morning snow in town. One thing Sottozeros excel at is driving on clear dry roads on hotter than winter temps. In comparing notes with our friends using Alpins, I think either tire will give good service on a 911.

Appreciate your input. Was about to buy the Pirellis and got distracted by a video (michelin sponsored) showing PA4 superiority. The ski slope is about the only place my car wont be going regularly (kids, equipment, light interior and its a cab). Also great to know another woman is out there enjoying skiing and her 911 in the winter!!!! Goal is to be on the road this week with my new to me 991. Huge upgrade from my 996.
