Default Counterfeit tyres??
this has been x-posted on the 993 board:

Has anyone ever heard of counterfeit tyres being offered for sale, I am worried about buying what seems a too good to be true offer on some Michelin Sport Pilots.

I suppose it could be done, never heard of it, but...

Maybe they are retreads?

Have you actually seen them?

I doubt it...its not cheap to make a tire mold so unless there is a huge 'underground' network I wouldn't lose sleep on it.

Your 993 is beautiful!! As to the tire issue I doubt if they are bogus, stolen perhaps, but not bogus.

Tim - you got it, about 2-4 hundred thousand per mold for a HP tire mold.
