Default Center lock wheels

I was told today that you don't have to use a torque wrench to install center lock wheels. A friend said that the locking nut had a gauge on it and you just tighten with your long braking bar until the gauge is indicating the correct tongue.

Any truth to this without looking at a center lock wheel in person?

Not on my cars and I've got an RS and a Turbo with Porsche Centerlocks. No gauge.

Hi Dave,

Interesting, the friend I talked to said it was in the owners manual, I'm just in the process of buying a 2011 Turbo S. I guess I'll get one of those 3/4 inch torque wrenchs so I can do my own

Cheers
Jim

I just looked in an owners manual and there is a procedure that can be used if a torque wrench is not available, more of an emergency if needed.
