There are several good shops in the area. As Joe asked, what type of Porsche and where are you located in the Valley? What, exactly, are you looking for?

And welcome to Rennlist

I was at a dyno in Tempe and across the parking lot there was a place called UMS Tuning. The guy was fabbing up a turbo setup on a 993, and I believe is a former Porsche Mechanic. Might check them out. www.umstuning.com

I just got back in town and wanted to say thanks for all the replies. I currently live in central Phoenix (44th and Thomas) and own a 94 968. I am looking for a place that can do both, general repair and performance tuning. I have a list of several places here in Phoenix and wanted to know what people thought of them.

968... Cool.
What kind of tuning. Not much power from the engine area.

Stuttgartt Southwest and Don Jacksons are a few of more popular repair shops. Stuttgart is probably closest it is near University and McClintock in Tempe. Probably 10 min drive from 44th and Thomas. These two shops can do just about the "tuning" you need short of turbo conversion or supercharging.

Heard mixed review from Exotic,
Becks I have heard is expensive and more into aircooled stuff,
Evolution is into the newer cars, (boxster, 996, 997),
Powerhaus can build you a 560 hp 968 Turbo if you want to and have $$$$$$$$
Sun Valley, I have heard of them, not very much about them. They don't seem to be intro the Porsche club scene.

What are you looking to achieve with 968?

Joe,

Thanks for the info! I would eventually like to add a turbo but for right now I just want someone reliable and close. Someone who actually knows what a 968 is and how to maintain it properly. The car is in perfect condition and I would like to keep it that way. I have already added a few minor mods -

• ProMAX Performance Chip
968 USA 7100A
• 968 M030 Factory Sway Bar Kit
• Lindsey Racing Front Sway Bar Stiffner Brackets
• Lindsey Racing Rear Drop Link Set
• Dynatech Strut Tower Brace
• 968 Euro Front Lenses
• 968 Oval Mesh Mouth Grill (Clearcoat Aluminum)
• Dan Wray's full battery cable package and headlight harnesses kit
• White Flamingeye LED Dial Illumination Kit

Stutgartt is closer than Don Jackson.

They will be good for basics. If you want a Turbo talk to David Raines at powerhaus. He can do that for you and has done it before.
