Default San Diego to Flagstaff Drive

Driving from San Diego (North County) to Flagstaff (and back) in a few weeks. I've driven it once along I8 and it was too boring. Thinking of taking 40 this time. Anyone know this route well enough to suggest areas of interest along the way? Thanks!

IMHO, six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Really? Meh. I could go backroads to Palm Springs and then go from there with only adding about 30 min.

Go through Lake Havasu, then take the Rt66 thru Oatman to Kingman. From Kingman you can take I40 to Flagstaff. The drive from Havasu thru Oatman to Kingman is some of the best twisties in AZ.

Love the RT66 idea. I'll map it out. Thanks!
