Dutray / LeMans Clock Replica - Poll / Feeler
If you're a committed Porsche owner or enthusiast then the 1971 Steve McQueen movie "Le Mans" probably ranks high in your all time top five favorites. And, if you're familiar with the movie, then you'll also recall the iconic "Dutray" clock which figures prominently in the race start scene:
I've been a huge fan of the movie ever since I was a kid and, truth be told, it can often be heard and seen playing in the background while my daughter and I are refinishing custom hood crests!
I've always wanted a replica of the clock and, being unable to find one, decided to replicate it on my own. Soooooooooooooo........... after NUMEROUS hours over the past year studying the scenes in the movie and available images of the clock itself we've created a image which faithfully mirrors the original. We've also gone to the trouble of copyrighting the image and we're preparing to offer it to our fellow enthusiasts.
Before we do so I wanted to poll the members here and see which size / type would be most popular. My initial thoughts were as follows:
Type:
1. Quartz Analog
2. Analog "Atomic Clock" i.e., the type that automatically adjusts itself
for inaccuracies as well as DST changes.
An example of this would be a La Crosse Technology "Atomic Clock":
Size:
1. 16"
2. 20"
Frame Finish:
1. Brushed Stainless / Brushed Aluminum
2. Gloss / Matte Black
As far as cost is concerned a 16" "non atomic" clock would be under $100 and the "atomic clock" in the same size would be closer to $150. I've been unable to find suitable "atomic clock" in 20" thus far and price would be dependent on availability. Please chime in and let us know your thoughts! (yes, pun intended).

We have the clock face worked up and will be offering replicas shortly. We're thinking a 12" clock and a larger 20" piece. In order to keep them relatively affordable we have to find a "off the shelf" commercially available clock that is itself affordable.
