Default Loaded Trailex CT-8045 Open Aluminum Trailer, perfect for towing with SUVs

Year: 2018

Color: Silver
Price (no $ sign please): $7995
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (Region): Texas
Body Style: Speedster
Transmission Type: Manual - 4 speed
2 or 4 Wheel Drive?: 2 Wheel Drive
Engine Type: Other

I was lucky enough to find an enclosed Trailex, so my Trailex CT-8045 open trailer is for sale. I used it to tow my track car with an X5. Wonderful trailer and hard to come by fully configured. One piece of trivia I didn’t know until I called Trailex for some bolts: it was designed to haul 911s and has the ability to slide the axles forward or backwards to help optimize the tongue weight when switching between a front engined and a rear/mid engined car. If you are towing with an SUV that has a limited tongue weight capacity (Cayenne, X5 are around 600lbs), this is a great feature given the trailer’s dimensions.

A new trailer with this configuration and add-ons would be about $10,500.

Configuration:
-2006 Model CT-8045
-Surge Brakes
-Tire Rack w/carpeted plates
-Front Shield
-Aluminum Wheels w/Porsche emblems
-Spare Tire with Aluminum Wheel
-Tool/Storage Box
-Extended width Rails so that you can haul a golf cart or a side-by-side
-Winch Platform
-Wheel Locks

Dimensions:

Size: 38.9 KB

Things I added:
-Winch (Superwinch) with synthetic rope and wireless remote
-2x Custom Hunsaker sized Fuel Racks with locks by PitPal, hold 2 jugs each (These were $575)

Condition
-All electrics/lights work
-Bearings and brakes were just serviced in July'16
-Tires have very low miles and lots of tread
-It sits most of the time in a covered storage slot

One point about the surge brakes. To be honest, when I bought this trailer, I was looking for electric brakes. However, a couple of things I didn’t think about were how flexible and convenient surge brakes are, and how low-maint they are. It’s not common to have a brake controller installed on an SUV, but even so, it was easy to lend the trailer to friends in need. From a tow-feel and performance standpoint, I’ve now towed with both types on my X5 (I went to the trouble to install a controller before I bought a trailer...waste of money it turned out), and they tow exactly the same under most circumstances. In a fast-stop situation, the hydraulic powered, drum based surge system has more stopping power, and as a result, felt more stable.

The pictures seem to show different configurations. Like I see spare tires on left front, right front and right rear mounted on the trailer. It's not making sense what you are selling.

Looks like he relocated one of the spares and eliminated the other when he added the two fuel racks on both sides.... ?

Bingo. When I first put the fuel racks on I moved the spare tire to the rear without really thinking about the logistics of filling the jugs. Now both fuel racks are on one side, same side as the tow vehicle and car, so I can fill car, vehicle, and jugs up without moving the rig around the pumps.

The hard part is getting the bolts to the right locations. You need to disassemble parts of the trailer to get the bolts into the slots. But once the bolts are there, it's trivial to move stuff around.

TTT - Total weight with a GT4, gas and spare tires is under 4500lbs. And it's aluminum, so if you must store it outside, it doesn't care.

For the trailer I just bought, I worked out a deal with a provider on uSHIP where he shared the fee of transporting a car using my trailer, which resulted in an overall much lower rate. uShip is effectively like selling something on ebay - you can name a fixed price or see what a bidding war will do. The providers that bid on your shipment typically have ratings/reviews and appropriate insurance. I've successfully used it 3 times now to move trailers.

As SIC 58 inquired, is this trailer still avaiable? Definitely interested if it is.
Thanks

I have a nearly brand new one (less than 200 miles on it and never titled) available in DFW. Message me. Although you need to have 10 posts to message.
