This car has recently been painted (entire car). The windows were removed for paint and all new seals were used for Targa top, door seals, window seals, etc. The body shop even removed and reinstalled (after paint) the seals that go between the fenders and cowling up front as these tend to get crusty from sunlight. The local Dent-Doctor came to the body shop and removed all little door dings and a slight dent on the hood from someone closing hood with too much force and pushing the wrong location.
This what I did:
- New engine sound pad and engine bay was cleaned of 20 yrs of road grime and oil residue that builds up over time
- Powder-coated valve covers and new seals
- Targa Top reconditioned with new material and looks brand new.
- Valve adjustment
- New hydraulic line for slave cylinder (clutch slave)
- New pressure Plate, Clutch and throw-out bearing
- Spark Plugs
- New wheels and tires (>90% tread on all tires) RH-Wheels 3.6 turbo look-a-likes with narrow body offset)
- Brakes and clutch lines all replaced with new fluid
- Power Steering belt replaced
- New leather on interior seats (both fronts) for bolsters high and low. Center sections are original
- New Sony stereo with bluetooth
- Porsche crest on hood was removed to paint. Will reinstall in the coming days, 10 minute job.
- Tool kit is in the car now, wasn't in photos since I hadn't reinstalled yet.
NOTE: I painted the targa bar gloss black which I think looks much better than factory. To remove I had to remove the oil tank as well. I ended up having it professionally cleaned, pressure tested and then I replaced all oiling hoses around it with brand new ones. The rubber tends to get hard over time and leaks through cracks or because you can't tighten enough. Now, it is good to go for another 20 years.
The paint:
- This car had slight damage to the front bumper and headlight surround. I decided (since I am compulsive) to replace the front fender, remove oil cooler to clean and pressure test, and replace front bumper cover and lights so this thing was brand new. Since I didn't want to try and match the new paint with the old I decided to spend ($7,000) the money to do it right and bring the car back to 1991 when it was sold new. The $7,000 was only paint and stripping (of donor fender and bumper cover) and did not take into account the cost of all the seals, donor body panels, lights, gaskets, etc. etc.). I have put over 14k into this car over the last 4 months not to mention a lot of my time tearing it all apart and reinstalling every piece (bumpers, seals, drivetrain, lights, carpeting, seats, stereo) to make it perfect. I reassembled the rear bumper which was split to paint appropriately and replaced all seals which looked cracked or faded. This is basically a brand new car and someone will be getting a steal and be able to enjoy this for years to come. Lastly, The title and CarFax are clean.
I am in the process of selling one of my other cars to make room for a 993 Turbo (once both cars are sold I will start the search) so this has to go. I truly enjoyed having fun with it and restoring it over the past 4 months.
I am located in Frenso, CA. You are welcome to come have a look. If this sells local I will update as a couple of my friends no the car is done and may possibly come and have a look.
Thanks for looking.
Cheers,
Bryan

more pics
A few more pics and one of the damage to the front fender/bumper cover
The last picture was of the stock wheels which I would sell with the car for an additional $400. They came on the car when I purchased and I've never really liked them.
Thanks,
Bryan

Update
Forgot to mention a couple things:
1) Car was hit when it was parked so was not in motion.
2) Fresh smog done 3 weeks ago
3) Now, Billy Goat exhaust and cat bypass but all stock components come with the car. Billy Goat exhaust is in all pics... a lot lighter than factory
Also, just so people can understand that I am an appropriate owner I have included of some of my other cars. I currently have the 550-6. There has been only 4 of these kits built with the 6 cylinder motor. It is a 2.4 liter twin plug 911S motor.
87 930 Turbo, rebuilt the motor and restored myself.
2004 TT Cabrio, sold with only 11,000 miles on it

CarFax
I have the CarFax if anyone would like to see it. It shows history for the car since new. Been in CA it's entire life.
I couldn't seem to attach the file since it comes in a link now from CarFax and not a PDF file and I'm using a MAC. I tried to cut and paste into a word doc but it wouldn't let me do that either. Not sure what I'm missing here.
Thanks,
Bryan

Also, no cracks in dash or rear deck lid. This thing has never spent much time in the sun except while being driven. The paint was good before I painted it but I wanted to bring it back to life. Now she is brand new without even a door ding or a chip. Thanks for all the messages and interest. I'm guessing this won't stay around too long.

Targa Top
A few people have asked about the Targa top so I took some photos of it today on the car to see. I have had it in the house since I typically only drive the car in nice weather and didn't realize it wasn't in any of the photos... go figure.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

ddelphin,
Yes, still available. Lots of activity but no downpayment so it hasn't sold.
Gom3esill,
I am guessing your being sarcastic about the 2.4 motor in the 550... not sure how to answer or respond.
