Balancing Trailer Wheels?
Just picked up a used 2002 Trailex 7541 with 13" wheels and replaced all the 12 year old rubber but I just noticed my mechanic/friend who I trust didn't balance the wheels. Is that the norm on trailers?..

Several reasons to balance trailer wheels.
Tires will last longer versus imbalanced tires, the worse the imbalance the worse the wear on the tire.
The entire trailer vehicle system and the items on the trailer will suffer less stress on parts due to vibration. It all adds up over time.
It takes less energy to roll a wheel down the road when it's smoothly balanced versus imbalanced. Where does the energy come from that moves the wheel up/down and/or left/right? It doesn't come from thin air. It comes from the tow vehicle.

I balance mine, too. No downside except for the minimal charge from the tire shop.
A few weeks ago I was following an empty landscaping trailer on the highway (dual axle). One of the wheels was oscillating like crazy due to imbalance, shaking the whole trailer. That wheel bearing probably won't last too long...

Yes to balancing. Also make sure the installer used high pressure valve stems.
