Trailex 8045 nose weight
I bought a used Trailex 8045 and had a question regarding nose weight. I have a 2003 Corvette Z06 and when it is positioned on the trailer so that the rear bumper of the car is at the rear of the trailer, I have 540lbs of nose weight. The car plus trailer is about 4100 lbs (car is 3100, trailer with full deck, tire rack and stone guard is 1000lbs) and this gives me about 13% nose weight. I want to also carry a set of 4 wheels on the tire rack, which I think will add another 40-50 lbs of nose weight.
I'm towing with a Ram 1500, so I don't think that there's any issue with this being too heavy for the truck. My questions are
Is this nose weight a good starting point?
Is there any issue with moving the tire rack back by approx 18"?
I'm also thinking to lower the tire rack by 6" to bring the wheels lower and out of the wind. Will this give any benefit to wind resistance?

That looks good. Lowering the tire rack will make some difference in terms of drag but you want to make sure that you can still drive the car under it (obviously.
