Default My Trailex 8045 build

Wanted to share some pics of my custom Trailex 8045 build. What a pleasure Trailex has been to deal with, Ken Montgomery there has provided some of the best customer service I have ever received. The trailer is being delivered to my doorstep on a single flatbed truck sent just with my trailer on it, from Ohio to Colorado on Monday, which is amazing...When they couldn't find a commercial carrier to deliver it in a reasonable time frame they just put it on a rented flatbed and had one of their employees drive it out to me. Can't wait to see it in person!

What's custom about it? Did you change the length / axle position?

Custom part is the full width aluminum floor and diamond plate enclosure at the front. They usually are open here with just wheel tracks and those features are usually only offered on the welded trailers, particularly the diamond plate enclosed front. Other than that custom part the rest is just a special order w/ various options.

Looks great. You'll love the screen on the front. It's a must have IMHO.

I find that I almost never use my fuel jug holders. I avoid trailering with that extra weight, and fuel sitting out. I typically get to the track, unload, then go get fuel. Not sure what others have experienced.

At my home track, HPR, it's a 20 minute drive (each way) to the nearest gas station and at the track they only sell race gas for $8 a gallon so hauling fuel is essential. Also with a 911 loaded forwards more weight in the front will probably help LOL.

+1. After even a short tow, mine would be filthy from road grit, and the car would still be clean. Really well designed, like pretty well everything about these trailers.

I fabricated this when i had my Trailex like yours , pretty simple and very convenient, although it might interfere with your deflector ...

I like that setup, it acts as a deflector too!

Nick,

Think of it rather as efficient space management, and you don’t have anything hanging
off the sides of your trailer !

Trailex makes a great trailer. Bought the 7541 towing a bmw z3 behind a highlander. No issues, tows straight and doesn't feel underpowered. I was worried a highlander wouldn't be powerful enough, but zero issues... Figure 3500 lbs all together...

The open area in between is really helpful for car servicing, oil changes, checking for leaks, etc. with the ramps in, the center open area is really fully enclosed anyway. You don't really need to fill in the center area...

I hear ya on having an efficient tow vehicle. My last car trailer was an 18' enclosed and I towed with a half ton 6.2L Chevy Silverado....I sold the trailer, mostly so I could get rid of the pickup truck. I got tired of driving around a big empty pickup at 13-15MPG just so I could haul my trailer to the track 8-10 times per year. I bought a Volvo XC90 T8 hybrid....400HP, self leveling air suspension and towing package. I looked at a Cayenne but I just can't get over how ugly they are (ugly to me...sorry all you Cayenne owners, we all have different tastes). I figure the Trailex trailer, the car (996 C2) and stuff for a track weekend will be 4500lbs, but the XC90 has plenty of power to pull it. And I really enjoy driving it to work and around when I am not trailering, good riddance on the Silverado, plus it gets 50+MPG a lot of the time which is awesome.
