Default gooseneck check of my math

maybe someone could take a peak and let me know if I'm missing something of if my math is about right.
Would appreciate it. gone through it twice just figured if you have 90seconds you can ensure im not missing something.

My Ram 3500 is 259.4 inches long. Nose to tail. I measured it.
The hitch ball sits in the bed 55 inches from the tail of the bed. I measured that too.

the 42’ trailer I'm contemplating is 516 inches overall.

So if Ram3500 is 259.4 iches long (dodge) plus the 516 for the trailer. =775.4 total inches.
The hitchball in the bed of the truck bed sits 55 inches from back edge of ram 3500 thus this is the overlap to the gooseneck tube center… how much of trailer sits over truck)
=775.4 less 55iches = 720.4inces
And then if we’re going to be accurate, , based on a photof of my buddy of the same from the side, the goose looks to sit about 8” back from front of the trailer Increasing the ‘overlap’ by that 8 more inches
So call is 712.4 inches divided by 12.
Gets me to 59 feet

NJ has a hard limit of 62 i believe.

anyway, that's how i see it. anyone see a mistake in this math or analysis.??

Looks right, but if you want to be sure, how about hooking up and measuring the whole thing

You should be fine with any pickup truck. Where you normally have issues is with Motorhomes and toters towing trailers. So you do know with the weight of the rig you will need a Commercial class license to tow. Anything with a combined 26K lb gross (3500 gross by itself is 14K and trailer must be 18-24K) needs commercial whether just doing DEs or even car shows for no money. I have to get one here in Florida for a Ram 2500 and a 35' trailer. Dont need the full Commercial with airbrakes, but requres Class A.

Here is the NJ DOT pdf:
https://nj.gotpermits.com/njpass/hom...2017-03-13.pdf

Max length for most states for Truck Semi-trailer is 62'.
Our guys run 244"-250"WB/53' trailer and can get up to 70'+ depending on 5th. wheel position, but on Tractor-trailer.

FWIW: If you are off by a couple of feet you will be OK.
